Weekend RetreatS

2021 Dates TBC

Our weekend retreats are built around a series of surf lessons and recovery focused workshops, all run from our beautiful base in Newquay. The surf lessons will be tailored to beginner surfers, giving you the opportunity to get your feet in the wax for the first time and build your confidence in the water. Workshops will focus on managing worries about cancer returning, and exploring identity and adjustment to life post-cancer. There will be multiple opportunities to connect with others who have gone through similar experiences; a delectable array of food to keep your energy levels topped up; and other wellbeing activities to nurture both body and soul, including yoga and meditation.

Our retreats run from our main base on Towan Beach, where we partner with Newquay Activity Centre, the perfect spot to catch some beautiful beginner waves. Workshops and wellbeing sessions will take place between the stunning 12 Beach Road and Yoga Garden spaces. Yoga lessons will be given by Morven Hamilton from Yoga by Nature, former teacher and facilitator for Penny Brohn Cancer Care and creator of the Yoga for Cancer teacher training program.

If you need funding support in order to attend, please do not hesitate to contact us as we wouldn’t want this to be a reason for you not to join us.

Additional Information

All our retreats are open to adults (18y+) who completed their treatment at least 6 months ago or is stable on maintenance hormone treatment. We suggest allowing this time period to help you to rebuild some of your physical strength post-treatment, however we are aware that this journey is different for everyone. We are able to tailor our activities to cater for individual need, for example support in carrying equipment, rest breaks to manage fatigue, adapting exercises depending on injury or pain, however we would ask that check with your medical teams prior to attending that they are happy for you to participate. Please have a look at our Surfing information to help you to decide when might be the best time for you to join us. If you’d like to talk this through with us, please do get in touch

You are more than welcome to bring a supporter with you if you would find this helpful, just get in touch and we can make arrangements.

Please contact us if you have any questions, would like to know more, or if you have any specific needs that we can discuss to support you to attend our retreat.
