I was feeling low and tired with a lack of motivation and nearly cancelled attending, but I can honestly say it was the best day I have had. Challenging myself to do something new, opening up to similar patients with our experiences about my diagnosis and recovery. It made me stop and reset my focus on what was important to me, and see that I am important. The mindfulness session was so rewarding. All my friends and family could see as soon as I arrived home how amazing I looked, felt and sounded in my voice. I cannot believe I was on my feet surfing by the end of the lesson, I was hooked and bought a board the next day. I had crazy salty curly hair and the biggest smile on my face for at least a week. I cannot recommend the day retreat enough.

I loved the weekend, especially the surf and listening and learning from everyone – truly inspiring and individual stories. The food and venues were ace. I feel I got lots from the time and feel privileged to have been a small part of it. You girls are amazing!

I loved the warmth, enthusiasm and support of the staff. The surfing lessons were phenomenal, the yoga was great. The workshops were very fluid and semi-structured enabling people to talk freely with anchoring of facilitation. The curiosity of Helen in facilitating the workshops was very skillful and respectful as well as insightful. It was a lovely weekend and I’ll definitely come back. Thank you! It’s been wonderful!

Helen was a great facilitator. Some of the ideas and techniques she brought to the table, such as square breathing, were and will continue to be beneficial in our recovery. You created a safe environment in which we could all freely discuss our thoughts and feelings. The yoga studio was instantly relaxing, and the class itself provided enough of a challenge while offering variations for those who needed them. I love the idea that recovery can be fun! It gives you a way to release negative energy in a happy, light way, as a change from the exhausting mental slog that it can sometimes be.
